"Dharmaisms"

The music that lingers in my head is UpdharmaDown's "We Give In Sometimes"

"...Take me where I wanna be
any place will do
learn the tricks of fire
i apologize but i'm gonna
have to take me with you..."

Hyped:
I'm in awe for the past few weeks (and for the next couple of weeks more pa) to the dazzling sounds of UpdharmaDown's first album 'Fragmented'.

I don't know. Perhaps, they're just in the right timing to come up something different. Well... not actually different but rather -Unique blend of musical genres. Of course some will claim that they sound like Portishead and Massive Attack. Pero iba talaga e.

North to South:
Yesterday, me and my friend went to Alabang Town Center just to see them play live scheduled at 6pm. I'm from Quezon City... imagine the trip from north to south just by hearing the place... "quezon city to alabang." =)

Yes, we we're lost for sometime in metropolis alabang. However, we planned to meet as early as 3pm for this one of a kind trip down to south. At lumagpas pa yung jeepney na sinasakyan namin sa ATC. ang galing talaga ng sinabi ni calculus na... "What is worth doing is worth delaying!" It helped us out to properly plan a fixed meeting time. So that even if we we're lost in the travel(which we highly anticipated it), we had alot of time ahead before the exact time. =) wehehe..

...And we did it! exactly 5:05pm we were already in the TOWER RECORDS ALABANG TOWN CENTER BRANCH. The band too, was already there and making their soundchecks. whew... the tiresome travel and the stomach aches due to not eating lunch was all paid off. What do we get? -four hours of happiness. =)

Like a drug so addicting:
Oh well... It's a bit weird for me. Because it's unlikely for me to go travel miles and see gigs of any local artists and yet this is one of the many bands that just got me carried away.

There's no harm in trying:

the most important is what's inside your heart

The music that lingers inside my head:
"The world is our playground and we will always be home" by UpdharmaDown

"You're my sunshine
My occasional rain..."

I read an e-mail or rather a message from a yahoo group last five days ago about a certain home for the special children and physically challenged which in need of volunteers who we're musically inclined and have the necessary skills to teach musical instrument (i.e. piano and guitar) I gave it a try and called the number. After a few conversations, I'll be expected to be at the place by monday morning (march 20) just for a visit. The founder also requested me to sing and play the guitar for them. waahhh!!!

I'm excited to meet the people around the institution or rather the people which makes the place a home. Yet I also felt scared or fear. Fear that I might not be able to teach well and be effective. Fear that they might be expecting a musical genius, which I'm not.

Yah, I once or twice taught guitar to my friends however this time, it's a different manner. Though I never considered them(the children) "different" from anybody but I'm thinking ways now on how to impart my knowledge and my love to play the guitar. It would be difficult, indeed. Nevertheless, it would be my little contribution to the society. I'm no rich guy, I rarely eat five times a day and I tremble. So why do it? Is it a calling? perhaps. Yet I do know for sure, I can find my personal growth with them. Teach and you also shall be taught. I may recieve less but what's important is what I can do NOW. My talent is all I have to share.

The head/founder once asked me "why do you want to volunteer?". I said "Maybe it is my calling..." then she said "Bakit? magpapari ka ba?" =) hehehe...

*Anyone who's interested to make friends with them may call the divine mobile center for music at 433 55 52 - look for Tita Sanchez

Finally... I can breathe.. for now. haayy...

The music that lingers in my head right this moment: "Oo" by up dharma down

"...di mo lang alam, kahit tayo'y magkaibigan lang
bumabalik lahat sa tuwing nag kukulitan.."

To Ms.russ... YUP! that was the part of that song i posted! =) Astig yung album! if you're into new music, jazz and easy-laid-back-the-couch sound, definitely this album is for you!

After two months of undeniable sleepless nights and coffee smells when i urinate, AT LAST!!! approved na yung thesis ko. haaayyyy........

Thank you all for the "good lucks", smiles, prayers and 1000 ml of hope!!!!

Ang tagumpay ko ay tagumpay niyo na rin, mga kapuso at mga kaibigan!

While I'm in thesis mode, enjoy this addicting song...

After I heard "Maybe" on MTV, I was like.... "syet! kailangan magkaroon ako ng album nito!"
how would i describe their music in just one word? Hypnotizing.

i'll reserve my reviews on their album pag nakabili na ako. =)

Pag Agos
by Up Dharma Down

At sa aking pagkubli
hampas ng araw pagdamdam ng gabi
tulog ang iyong mga kamay
di nako makapag antay

isang umaga muling aahon
at sisikat sa mga panahon
na tayong pang dalawa
masayang pagsasama

buong araw ng pag-agos
kailan ang huling unos
di alam kung tatakbo
kusang lalayo sayo

isang umaga muli ng pag-iisa
walang mayakap at makasama
pusong pilit na sinugatan
landas kong karaniwan

malayo man, malapit din
ayos lang, agos lang.
